:- She has set out on a mission-driven sojourn. And the mission is to promote Indian classical dance form- ‘Kathak’ all over the world, starting with the US. As member of the International Dance council of the UNESCO, she has been travelling many parts of the world, demonstrating Indian dance to the foreign audience, writing about dance and how it relates to our mind, body, soul, how it is involved in our everyday routine, and how it works to improve our life.

The cultural world has started taking note of her efforts and recognising it as well. Paramita Bhattacharyya, the danseuse originally hailing from Kolkata and now settled in Los Angeles, US, has recently been conferred with the coveted International ‘Nritya Bhushan’ and National ‘Nritya Golden Peacock’ by ‘Utkal Yuva Sanskrutk Sangh’ in collaboration with the Government of Odisha, for promoting Indian dance, particularly Kathak performances abroad.

A "Prabhakar" degree holder from 'Prayag Sangeet Samiti' and specialisation in 'Lucknow gharana' style of Kathak, Bhattacharyya, has recently been performing for different topical causes. One of her recent artistic presentations was a dance work on ‘social change’ which she performed for one of the renowned dance organizations in New York, Mark DeGarmo Dance supported by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs and NY City Council.

She has also started her own Kathak training institute in Los Angeles with the firm belief that traditional classical art form can help people enhance their life and personality as because it relates to the language of mind, body and soul.
The danseuse from Kolkata is also working on various forms of exchange of cultural ideas with different other dance exponents from around the world to find ways of how to deliver socially relevant messages to people through dance for the benefit of people and the world. A former radio jockey and TV show host of India’s National Channel, Delhi Doordarshan, Paramita also won "Mrs. India - Asia USA - Award of Excellence 2017".

Bhattacharyya, a trained Kathak dance exponent, dance choreographer and performer was trained under the living legend, the Kathak maestro Padma Vibhushan Pt. Birju Maharaj ji, Pt. Brojen Mukherjee and Pt. Ashimbandhu Bhattacharjee, is now experimenting with the ‘abhinaya’ portion of the dance form- ‘Kathak’ where an artist needs to express the feeling involved in the dance piece in such a way that the audience also gets involved with the emotion and find themselves in it and relate themselves with it.

Paramita, who loves experimenting with newer things and ideas, says: “‘Ghazal’ is a genre that gives me plenty of opportunity to present many emotions and intense feelings of the subject. I would like to incorporate poetry and narration in these kind of performing art.
