This organization, run by and for the children of sex workers, organized a highly successful felicitation ceremony today in Sonagachi, honoring 30 students from various red-light areas across the state who passed their Secondary (Class X) and Higher Secondary (Class XII) examinations with merit.
With the goal of recognizing the educational achievements of children from marginalized communities and encouraging them to pursue higher education, 'Amra Padatik' and 'RP Welfare Trust' jointly undertook this initiative.
The event was made especially memorable by the presence of distinguished guests, including: All Bengal Men's Forum President Smt. Nandini Bhattacharya; renowned Bengali singer Sri Prabir Das; RP Welfare Trust Secretary Sri Subhashis Roy; RP Welfare Trust President Smt. Susmita Roy; Dr. Tapan Saha; retired government officer Smt. Suktishita Bhattacharya; Dr. Arnab Roy; Professor Shubhamoy Roy; child specialist Dr. Rajat Kanti Sen; the Officer-in-Charge of Burtolla Police Station and a representative from the Lalbazar Anti-Trafficking Cell; well-wisher of 'Amra Padatik' Sri Kedia; and Dr. A. K. Singh, along with many other distinguished personalities.
Amra Padatik's veteran leader Sri Ratan Dalui delivered a captivating musical performance at the event. In addition, a dance drama performed by children from the "Day Care Center" in Sonagachi won over the audience. Their performance powerfully conveyed the importance of preventing child marriage and promoting education, leaving a deep impression on everyone present.
One of the key highlights of the program was the felicitation ceremony, where Smt. Nandini Bhattacharya presented medals to the 30 meritorious students, honoring their hard work, perseverance, and academic success.
Speaking at the event, 'Amra Padatik' Secretary Smt. Shatabdi Saha reaffirmed the organization's commitment to ensuring education, empowerment, and equal opportunity for children growing up in red-light areas. She stated that education is a powerful tool for social change, and that 'Amra Padatik' remains firmly dedicated to building a bright and dignified future for this younger generation.
