Biryani is now available as street foods, served from gigantic metal (mostly aluminium) handis wrapped in red clothes, roadside small food joins, food carts and food trucks, besides fine-dining restaurants, to satiate the tastebuds of the Kolkata food lovers. Biryani can still upgrade itself to be a luxury brand, if served in right ambience, in good quality and at justified price point. "It has to be a 360 degree and holistic approach if some biryani brand is to become a truly luxury brand.
It has to be a combination of all. It has to be a combination of food and food for thought," says Dr Mahul Brahmo, Dean, Adamas University and author of a series of books on luxury, including "Decoding Luxe", at a "Handi-side chat show" organised by Biryanishk, one of Kolkata's top biryani brands, promising a royal experience.
Dr Brahmo said a luxury Biryani Brand that Biryanishk is, does not only stimulate one's gastronomical instincts, but also stimulates one's intellectual faculties. Dr Saugata Banerjee, an academician and strategy consultant-turned restaurateur and founder of Biryanishk, says that while offering sinful pleasures, different kinds of Biryanis being served by Biryanishk also take care of one's health, by way of using specially sourced whole spices and not using Dalda and artificial colors.
