AMRI Hospitals adding beds

*Kolkata, 05.05.2021:* In its constant efforts to augment beds for management and treatment of COVID-19 patients, AMRI Hospitals is in the process of adding another 233 beds to accommodate COVID-positive patients with mild to moderate symptoms.

AMRI’s latest satellite centre, which will function like an off-site hospital facility, is being set up at Yuva Bharati Krirangan (Salt Lake Stadium), in association with the State Government. The facility offers 210 General beds, nine single-bed cabins, and five double-bed cabins.

The facility will also have piped oxygen supply to provide basic support, if any patient shows signs of dipping oxygen levels. An on-site Respiratory Care Unit has also been set up with four beds, which is equipped with critical care equipment and will help in stabilising a patient, in case anybody suffers sudden respiratory distress, which is often seen in COVID patients.

The satellite centre will provide round-the-clock nursing care, oxygen support, on-site doctors, and specialists on call. The facility will also offer the service of VGo robot, which AMRI Hospitals launched last year during the pandemic to keep patients and their family members in touch, since visitors are not allowed inside COVID wards.

*Mr Rupak Barua, Group CEO, AMRI Hospitals*, said, “The State Government approached us with the proposal to set up a satellite centre at Salt Lake stadium and we immediately decided to take it up, since we will be able to provide support to a large number of patients. We are working at a fast pace to prepare the facility and it will be operational by the end of this week.”

Besides having around 420 beds across the three units of AMRI Hospitals in Kolkata – Dhakuria, Mukundapur, and Salt Lake – the Group has three satellite centres running across the city. With the addition of the Salt Lake stadium facility, AMRI will have around 320 more beds outside the three units.
