Kolkata | Bureau**Journalists should work in a way that they do not face difficulties even if the ruling party changes": Minister Kalyan Chakraborty


West Bengal Minister for Science & Technology, Biotechnology, Information Technology & Electronics, Food Processing Industries and Pharmaceuticals,Prof. Dr. Kalyan Chakraborty, on Tuesday stressed the importance of independent and responsible journalism while addressing an event organised on the occasion of National Doctors' Day in Kolkata.

Speaking after unveiling and formally handing over the Press Privilege Circle Card to the Press Club Kolkata, the minister said, "Journalists should work in such a way that they do not face difficulties even if the ruling political party changes."

The event was jointly organised by Nephrocare India Limited, Sampurna Women Care & IVF and Vivacity Multispeciality Hospital as a gesture of support and recognition for members of the media.

Among those present on the dais were Dr. Pratim Sengupta, Founder and Managing Director of Nephrocare India Limited, Dr. Sutapa Sen, Founder of Sampurna Women Care & IVF Centre, and Nitai Malakar, Secretary of Press Club Kolkata.

The programme was held to mark National Doctors' Day while also recognising the contribution of journalists through the launch of the Press Privilege Circle Card.
