The Bengali feature film “Porabanshi”, directed by Shubham Das, was released on the eve of the swearing-in ceremony of the Chief Minister of West Bengal. Produced by “MRD” and presented by “Tara Ma Motion Pictures Film Production House,” the film has already generated considerable curiosity among audiences.
According to sources, the director had conceptualized the project nearly seven years ago, inspired by certain real-life incidents. Speaking to the media ahead of the premiere, Shubham Das said, “This story revolves around a simple village युवक (young man) who is often neglected by the people around him. His only companion is a flute.”
The identity and journey of this mysterious young man form the crux of the narrative, which the audience will uncover by watching the film.
The cast includes Biswajit Chakraborty, Anamika Saha, Bhaskar Banerjee, Shubham, Shiuli Ramani, Arko, Kaushik, Chandni, and Banshree, among others.
With a runtime of 2 hours and 22 minutes, “Porabanshi” is a social drama that explores human relationships, neglect, and the harsh realities of society. The story hints at emotional turmoil—whether it is the burning of homes, hearts, or the transformative power of a flute that alters many lives.
When asked about the message of the film, the director stated, “Not everything that glitters is gold; true character is revealed in times of crisis.”
