St. Thomas School, one of Kolkata’s oldest and most prestigious educational institutions, recently hosted its grand annual festival, Festhoma 2024, at its Khidirpur campus. Founded in 1789, the school gathered over 34 schools from across West Bengal, marking one of the largest school fests in the region and drawing thousands of students to showcase their talents.

At a press briefing on Wednesday, Suman Biswas, Principal of the Boys Section, and Richelle Allais, Principal of the Girls Section, highlighted the event’s impressive scope. Festhoma 2024 featured over 38 events, allowing students to display skills in various fields. “Festhoma is a platform where students express talents beyond academics, crucial in today’s high-pressure curriculum,” said Biswas.

A major highlight was the anticipated performance by Bollywood singer Javed Ali, scheduled for Thursday, adding excitement and energy to the festival atmosphere. “The enthusiasm among students for Javed Ali’s appearance has been immense,” Biswas noted.

The festival included competitive and non-competitive events, spanning music, dance, drama, art, and sports. Thousands of students impressed audiences and judges alike with their creativity and teamwork. Principal Allais emphasized the importance of such events in fostering students’ holistic development, saying it was rewarding to witness their growth in confidence and collaboration.

As Festhoma 2024 concluded, it left a legacy of inspiration for students, faculty, and parents. This celebration of talent reinforced St. Thomas School’s dedication to nurturing well-rounded individuals, setting a new standard for school events in Kolkata and beyond.
