Like other years, this year also Metro authorities have chalked out a plan to run Pre-Puja special services for the benefit of the shoppers during the Pre-Puja Days.
Passenger rush is generally observed at Mahatma Gandhi Road, Central Metro stations which are located near Burrabazar area, which is the business hub of eastern India. Esplanade Metro station has also witnessed sharp rise in footfalls due to its proximity with New Market area, one of the must-go spots for youngsters. Shoppers also like to frequent Hatibagan area and Shyambazar Metro station helps them to reach their easily to purchase the smartest clothes.Kalighat Metro station is now being used by Gariahat-bound shoppers as this station is located underneath the famous Rashbehari Crossing.Residents of adjoining districts of Kolkata are also now availing Metro services as Dakshinewswar, Dum Dum and Kavi Subhash Metro stations have been the gateway to Kolkata for such passengers. Metro signifies smooth, fast and comfortable travelling experience. It allows them to visit their preferred shopping locations smoothly and also saves their valuable time.
Metro staff have been working round-the-clock to provide smooth services to them. Additional booking counters are being opened at all stations to manage the rush. Adequate tokens and Smart Cards have been provided at the booking counters to meet any extra demand. Metro users are requested to use ‘Metro Ride Kolkata’ app for recharging their Smart Cards as well as book QR Code Based Tickets while travelling in East-West Corridor.
Even during heavy downpour Metro ferries all to their respective destinations with comfort and elegance. Commuters won't have to worry about traffic jams which have also been a feature of Kolkata during Pre-Puja days. Commuters are happy with the services and heaping praise to Metro authorities for running additional services on weekends before Puja.
