Digital Desk:- Recently India (Bengal) Cultural Association Japan, abbreviated as IBCAJ organized Rabindra-Nazrul Jayanti on May 28, 2023 at Tiara Koto Community Center in Tokyo, Japan.

IBCAJ was established in 2011 with the objective of enhancing cultural exchange between India and Japan.  The program started at 9.30 am first with a short sit-in performance by the child artistes of IBCAJ.

After that, the cultural program continued for more than three hours.  The cultural program started with a medley of Rabindranath Tagore and Nazrul Islam, accompanied by a dance.

Other important parts of this included the dancing of Ms. Setsu Togawa, who was educated at our very own Santiniketan and is an eminent dancer of the Manipuri style.

The Chief Guest of the event was Mr. D. N. Barnwal, Second Secretary of the Indian Embassy in Japan, other dignitaries of the Indian Embassy and Mr. Prabir Bikash Sarkar, a prominent Rabindra researcher from Tokyo.

It is noteworthy that IBCAJ members made every effort to make the event a success despite their busy schedules.  The event was attended by more than 120 people, including several Japanese researchers from Tokyo University Foreign Studies, who performed poems and songs in Bengali.

This year IBCAJ's child artistes performed a song on Rabindranath Tagore in a modern arrangement, which was thoroughly enjoyed by the audience.

IBCAJ President Shri Swapan Biswas said that the success of this event depends on the efforts of the members and they are going to organize more interesting events in the near future.
