Chairman Haj Committee Ladakh UT along with Er Aijaz Hussain flags off UT Ladakh pilgrims


Ladakh, June,2023 : In a significant development, Member Haj Committee of India (HCoI) and Chairman Haj Committee Ladakh Shri Majaz Ali  today flagged off the first batch of Haj 2023 pilgrims from Ladakh UT. The batch comprised 350 pilgrims including Shia pilgrims who will land in Jeddah and proceed for Jofah where they will be provided special travel assistance.

Expressing gratitude to Er Aijaz Hussain, who is the Member of HCoI, for ensuring special arrangements, the Shia pilgrims prayed for the long life of Er Aijaz and hoped that more Shia pilgrims will opt for Haj from next year. This is for the first time that Shia pilgrims were given special flight and special arrangements . Er Aijaz while speaking on the occasion sought prayers from the Haj pilgrims stated that Shia pilgrims will be given special travel assistance given their different rituals from Jofah in Jeddah onwards. 



He said for the first time, special Mualims (clerics) were assigned the task of guiding the Shia pilgrims. Present the occasion was Member UT Haj Committee M. Rafiq, who also belongs to the Shia committee besides the chairman Haj Committee of Ladakh.

Er Aijaz while flagging off the first batch of 350 pilgrims said that this year, there will be more facilities for pilgrims performing Hajj compared to the previous years as HCoI has taken a series of steps to improve facilities for the pilgrims of India including those from J&K. Er Aijaz said that the hotel accommodations will be much better than the past while transportation has also been streamlined. A group of Shia pilgrims while proceeding for Jeddah said that they were delighted to see special arrangements being put in place for them for the first time. They thanked HCoI members and Haj Committee of Ladakh and J&K for taking pains in improving the facilities for the pilgrims.
