News Desk :- Udan Khatola by Debarun Mukherjee Reflects the Best of Festive Flair
The festive season is already upon us with celebrations galore as we move from the beauty
of autumn to the pleasures of winter.
It’s the perfect time to flaunt your most vibrant wear
as you hop from one invitation to another, where friends and family come together to share
joy and happiness.
House of Debaarun by fashion designer Debarun Mukherjee is the one stop shop for peppy, bohemian and colourul yet utterly stylish clothes for both men and
women as they launch their new collection called “Udan Khatola” available on Instagram
and Facebook.
As a child, Debarun had been heavily inspired by the “”Raather Mela in his neighbourhood,
which gave him a glimpse of an eclectic breed of people unfettered, non-conformist,
colourful and creative. The vibes of such “melas” had a profound impact, especially rides on
the “Udan Khatola” or the Flying Cot. The garish motifs, the vibrancy, the blingy backgrounds
and smells of such fairs are the main visualisation for the collection.
The colour combinations are shocking, provocative, aesthetic and provide a colourful
counterculture based on creativity which at times adhered to social structures and
traditions. There is a textural component, heavy on the shiny elements, fusion silhouettes
which is the highlight.
This collection is very dear to him as he aims to bring the forte of
Boho clothing into luxury wear.
“The bohemian style came to be associated with young people hoping to distance
themselves from the materialistic culture of past generations. Flowy, unstructured
silhouettes, head-bands, vibrant colours , oversized sunglasses, junk jewellery, open-toed
sandals, and natural fabrics are some of the elements that characterised this style,” says
Debarun.
Udan Khatola has an eclectic mix of many fabrics. “Keeping the brand ethos of luxury intact,
we have played with silk satin, georgette and crepe, with hand woven chanderi, tulle, mixed
fabrics like linen satin, cotton tassar and organza..... also brought in some pure velvet to give a touch of luxury,” says Debarun
He further adds, “Vibrant contrast colours are part of this collection, sometimes it felt like
this a "blind folded" line, with use of all colours randomly to give the mix feeling.
Pink, orange, emerald green, indigo blue, shades of beige and sand, burgundy and black. As our brand is know for it hand embroidery, we have used it
extensively, though did not make it too overbearing... techniques like shibori and dip
dye is highlight wherever necessary.”
The collection has mixed silhouettes, so there is something for everyone like sarees,
lehengas, cholis, kurta long and short paired with side pleated pants, high waist trousers,
tank top, stitched sarees, blazers. The menswear comprises mostly Indian ethnic with Nehru
jackets, one button long jacket, shirt kurta and colour patched kurta with contrast trousers,
churidar, salary and loose bottom pants.
